This is a watermelon that turns golden yellow when the fruit is ripe. The leaves will also go yellow as the fruit ripens.
It has a lovely flavour but it is not really a good w/m for those who are new to growing watermelons as it can be a bit temperamental if conditions are not right. It is also not particularly productive. But it is a great change and something different for those who have the experience and spare room for it.
When to sow: after risk of frost has passed in spring and nights are above 10C. Sow directly where they are to grow, or in punnets and transplant when they are big enough to handle. Try not to damage the roots when transplanting.
Plant Type: Sprawling vine
Uses: Eat fresh, add to fruits salads, or juice.
Growing Conditions: Needs well drained, fertile soil. Water regularly in summer when the soil is dry.
